Social events add to the diversity of our events. For example, every year, we hold the Chinese New Year Celebration. Having secured funding from the Students’ Union, we are able to bring a wide range of activities to campus, such as food tasting, traditional painting and calligraphy practice sessions as well as flea markets. Through these events, we hope to promote the Chinese culture while reminding fellow Chinese students of home.

Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is a traditional festival celebrated in many Asian countries including China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. In a school where half the student body is international, it is important for all LSE students to understand the cultural difference and embrace the diversity. We believe that the Chinese New Year celebrations are a precious opportunity for the school to gain a better understanding of the Chinese culture.
