CDS - HKPASS DEBATE

2019 marks the 22th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover, and recent developments do not bode well for either party, to put it mildly. Conflict between the two political ideologies and crucial differences in personal identity continue to plague the relationship between Hong Kong and the mainland. In attempt to find a peaceful solution, CDS collaborates yearly with HKPASS to hold a debate on related issues.

However, unlike standard debates, the roles of the CDS team and HKPASS team are ‘reversed’: the CDS team debates from Hong Kong’s perspective, while the HKPASS team debates from that of the mainland.

This is a battle of ideas in which open-mindedness is vital to success.
